Eleanor Meli, as the Airport Operations Manager (AOM) manages and coordinates the operation and maintenance of the airport facilities in accordance with aerodrome exposition, CAR Part 139 and any other legal statues of the Solomon Islands Government. The AOM provide oversight of AVSEC and ARFF services for airports which are the direct responsibilities of the Head of AVSEC and the Head of Airport Fire respectably.
The duties and responsibilities include:
a). Ensuring that all legislation pertaining to safety, security, orderly flow of passengers and aircraft operations are adhered to.
b). Coordinate the operational relationship of the Chief Executive Officer with stakeholders and government agencies who are involved in the Airport operation.
c). Ensure transitional slopes, airport approach, departure and manoeuvring areas remain clear of obstacles which may jeopardize safety.
d). Ensure ARFF services provided at the airports are carried out to fulfil its functions as stipulated in the aerodrome exposition.
e). Liaise with relevant government agencies, tenants, service providers and concessionaires to ensure that services provided at airports meets IATA/ACI service levels standards.
f). Oversight of Terminal Services and Field Supervisors to ensure cleanliness of terminal buildings and the airport surroundings.
g). Assist the Chief Operating Officer in airport strategy and policy development and budget preparations. h). Undertake any other tasks as directed by the Chief Operating Officer from time to time.
